Hypnobirthing FAQs

Ideally, it is best to start the course between 20 and 30 weeks gestation. This is so that you can digest what you have been taught and practice the breathing techniques and the relaxations at home. To ensure I have availability, the earlier you book the better.

However, it is never to late to start hypnobirthing! So don’t worry if you are further on than 30 weeks and you have only just found me! I started practising hypnobirthing at 37 weeks and it worked wonderfully. I teach a Compact Course and Essentials Course (see My Services) for couples who are nearing their due date and I have successfully taught this course to a number of couples.
Absolutely! Hypnobirthing is perfect whether you are growing your first human or your seventh! If you didn’t enjoy your previous birth, we can talk about this together and I can tailor your hypnobirthing course to meet your individual needs.

If you have practised hypnobirthing in a previous pregnancy, I offer a “refresher” course at a reduced fee. Get in touch for an informal chat to find out more.

Ideally, yes. And, if you have more than one birth partner, it is better that they attend too if possible!

On the course, you will be learning lots of new things about the labour and birth process, breathing techniques, relaxation practice etc. Doing the course together means you’re all “singing from the same hymn sheet” so to speak, and your birth partner(s) will learn how to support you in the very best way.

I appreciate that it is not always possible for birth partners to attend, or you might not have a birth partner. This is absolutely fine; you can still benefit from practising hypnobirthing without a partner present.

A lot of men especially, are quite skeptical at first if I’m honest. They think it’s going to be hippy-ish mumbo-jumbo. When they realise it is completely based on science and logic, and they have an active role to play, they become the biggest converts!

Hypnobirthing is, quite simply, a complete labour and birth preparation course. Signpost them to my Facebook page here, where they can get a heads up on what it’s all about. I also have lots of 5* Facebook reviews from previously-skeptical men!

Absolutely not. Hypnosis is simply about feeling deeply relaxed so that we feel calm, focussed and are not distracted by noises and other interruptions easily. In fact, we go into this state a few times during the day naturally: When we are drowsy before nodding off/waking up, and when we are engrossed in a really great film or book. It’s a very enjoyable state to be in!

I teach private classes within the comfort and familiarity of your own home. I live in St. Helens, Merseyside and I am happy to travel up to about 12 miles (each way) to teach you.

Group courses currently take place online via Zoom. So, no matter where you are in the world, I can skill you up the Lionheart Hypnobirthing way!
It is vital that you feel totally at ease with your chosen hypnobirthing teacher. They not only need the suitable qualifications but also the “right” character and personality – you need to find someone who makes you feel seen, heard and understood.

Why not ring me up for a natter, or head over to my Facebook page here or Instagram page here; I regularly post updates and videos so you can get a feel for my personality and what I’m all about.
